mODELING & texturing
For our Experimenting with Animation class, we had the opportunity to try out something new. Because my interests have always been in character animation, I wanted to step outside my comfort zone. I started experimenting with texturing, and try to find a way to combine my love for 2D and 3D. To do this I created a single scene and developed 4 texture styles, representing the 4 seasons. I first started researching what visual elements I associate with each season. Then I explored different texture styles and how to create them.
This project was an early test version with 2D texturing before the Experimenting with 2D Texturing part 2 in Experimenting with Animation class. In this experiment I explored hand painting textures on 3D objects using Blender and Procreate. I also used Grease Pencil for the first time to add an extra 2D outline effect.
For our texturing class we had to create a diorama and use Adobe Substance Painter to create the textures ourselves. Since my only prior experience with texturing was in a 2D style, I decided to challenge myself by trying out a realistic style of texturing.
This is an 3D room of a supermarkt with a secret door in the freezer that I created in Blender. Everything in this scene was modeled by me.
This was an experiment where I tried to hand paint the textures using Procreate. I also drew inspiration for the models from objects I found while biking to the gym. This project was a small experiment for a larger project.
